Em Vietnamese Bistro is a Vietnamese restaurant right near the Timeout Market. There usually is a wait when the market is packed, so try to make a reservation if you can. They have about 2 dozen tables inside with larger tables in the back. Their menu isn't huge but they do things well here. The pho broth is amazing and the wings are delicious, although overpriced for the portion size you get. The rest of the food have good portions though for the price. The service is pretty bad, 3 of the 4 employees we interacted with were flat out rude or condescending. Even at the end when we just paid the bill and got the receipt, in less than a minute a busser came up and said "we need this table so you guys are gonna need to leave now." As we left, he stood in the aisle we needed to walk through to get out as well, so just overall terrible staff. I'd recommend this place if they got rid of the employees who make it a bad experience after such good food.
in the last weekI went for the first time last night and had a great experience! I got beef pho and my girlfriend got braised pork belly for our mains, and the wings for an appetizer and everything was delicious. They had some fun drink options we tried as well. Service was also great. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area.
2 months agoI have only been here once but I really loved their summer rolls. I have tried many summer rolls at different restaurants, and this was the best. The filling was very tasty and it came with the best peanut sauce. Will absolutely come back when I visit Dumbo
2 months agococktails are surprisingly delicious and decent with obvious alcohol taste! Starfish Beach cocktail leans towards sweetness, while the Coffee Martini strikes a perfect balance, not overly sweet and very smooth. Food was okay. Modern atmosphere, perfect for gatherings. Plenty seatings. Friendly staffs. Feedback to pork & rice -If pork is sliced would be so much better and escalate the dining experience as the bowl is too tiny to have room to chop.
5 months agoThis is the cleanest Vietnamese restaurant I’ve been to. The spring rolls and com tam are very good, the pho is a bit off (maybe too much star anise), the bun rieu chay is its own animal, don’t expect it to be like non vegetarian bun rieu.
