The rooms are clean and comfortable, but there is a strong sewage smell from the bathroom (specifically the sink). This can be resolved easily. The entrance of the hotel it its BIGGEST drawback. You need to enter from the restaurant which smells like old cooked lamb and steak. I recommend that the hotel works on establishing an independent entrance.

I joked that this is a great introvert hotel. Because there is no desk and no one to hand you a key. When booking your hotel, the staff will communicate very well with you, setting expectations and letting you know if your room is read ahead of your check-in time to make your experience a bit easier. You'll be given instructions on how to enter and the code to your room, which you'll find to be clean, quiet and like a little apartment in downtown Reykjavik. Parking is simple, about a block away there is a garage. Just pull in, park and pay at the kiosk when you leave. Very easy. Everything is in walking distance and you'll feel like a local with your own little nook to rest after a long day of exploring the magic of Iceland. Very highly recommend.

Absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Vera! Fantastic apartment with great facilities and everything was really clean and comfortable. Really good central location and as we were on the first floor, there was very little noise from outside which was nice. Lovely big comfy bed too! As others have mentioned, there is no lobby/check-in desk, but there really is no need for this and it's a shame people have left reviews to whinge about it. Simple instructions were sent to us, prior to arrival, in order to access the accommodation (via the cute little restaurant downstairs) and we didn't experience any issues! If you can use a numbered keypad and have a bit of common sense, you'll be fine!

The room itself was spacious, beautifully designed and had everything you needed. Great location in the city, right on the main street that gets you to everywhere you'd need to go. One very important downside - they bathroom, particularly the shower, was incredibly dirty as if it had never been cleaned. It smelled like sewage and the floors were so bad we had to wear flip flops to shower. It also didn't help that the shower was terrible at keeping water in so the whole bathroom would be wet. Customer service was pretty responsive when I asked for the shower to be cleaned - it was cleaned the next day, however only partly (you could see the single part of the shower that was scrubbed). Would not recommend staying here purely because the bathroom experience was so traumatic for us.

10 day stay Pros: Great location walking distance to everything in Reykjavik. The room was clean and comfortable. Kitchenette had everything we needed to cook and eat including a cooktop, pots and pans, dishes, electric kettle, nespresso for coffee, and a mini fringe with a small but great freezer. The bed was comfortable and the comforters (there were 2 individual ones) were cozy. Good size bathroom with standing shower. We were on the 3rd floor so no issue getting into the hotel through the restaurant- that seems to be a first floor issue. Cons: Wi-Fi was a little slow, the bathroom floor got a little wet when we took a shower because there was no barrier between the shower and the floor, but it wasn’t too bad. Room got a stuffy even with the window open- a fan would be nice. We had issue with the lock one time but the hotel staff (via messaging- no people on site) said to not touch the top area of the lock because it uses a fingerprint reader- we were careful to only touch the area with the numbers after that with no problem.
