Not sure where to begin... On a Wednesday evening it was packed which goes to show the popularity. I loved every second. The seating was a bit cramped but it certainly added to the atmosphere. We opted for 3 courses and each was as fantastic as the next. The sign of a good local restaurant offering fresh food was that you had to see what was still available. We opted for the steak as a main course, and luckily they had enough left for us. It was delicious. The wine equally as delicious and we opted for a bottle of Chianti which was rich and fruity. Service with a smile, relatively fast and the ingredients were definitely local and traditional Italian affair. I loved every second, and I really don't say that about many restaurants. What an absolutely hidden gem of a restaurant. I've read some of the negative reviews and I can't really understand their point. Just because it has old school chequered table clothes, it means something? Take it for what it is and you won't be disappointed. This isn't haute cuisine, this is traditional Italian comfort food in a lively and atmospheric setting. Highly recommended

Trying to bring back the red checkered tablecloth, but is more of a reminder of how bad dining like that was a few decades ago. The Florentine steak is tougher than it should be, and the pasta is no better than boil your own from Tesco's. The inexperienced waiting staff do their best, but the dining room is rammed - and excessively loud - and the kitchen finds it difficult to keep a good tempo between courses. The two-week window for bookings is just a way to drive a sense of anticipation.

Truly fantastic Italian restaurant. Definitely on the noisier side during lunch time. Loved the rabbit pasta, and the apple tart as well. The service was friendly, but also quite efficient.

This is the second time we've dined at Brutto and on this occasion we were eating there only days after returning from 2 weeks in Tuscany... The food is excellent, extremely authentic and it was a seamless transition to dining in the Tuscan hills to central London. We dined at 14:00 on a Friday and arrived early to find our table was ready (joy!) Staff were prompt with water and menus but we were then left to our own devices whilst a bustling service occurred around us. Drink & food orders were eventually taken and our wine arrived promptly followed by Anchovies on toast - superb and just the right amount. Some meaty tagliatelle and sausages with lentils and mustard followed and we were out of there by 15:30. Fantastico!
